Hey everyone! I’m scrolling through all my pie recipes today and pulling out my favorite ones that I think you should bake for your holiday dinner this year- we’ve got some fruit pies, cold pies, and a bunch of classics to fill your table.
Every year I make a different mix of pies for Thanksgiving, but I always make a few pumpkin and a pecan pie to make sure we have some of the best classic options on the table, and then I usually stray into some other flavors for the rest of our pies. Let’s get to the list!
High-Altitude Pumpkin Pie
Obviously we’re starting with a classic- I always make at least two of these on Thanksgiving because it’s the best thing to have as breakfast for a few days after Thanksgiving. This version is super creamy and smooth, and has all the sweet spices you’re used to for this classic.
Peanut Butter Cream Pie
This pie is a fluffy, creamy dream of a pie and it’s really easy to make. You only have to bake the crust for a few minutes to set it, and otherwise everything else comes together quickly and then chills in the fridge. It’s almost like a cross between a no-bake cheesecake and a peanut butter pie. I love to have one or two cold cream pies for Thanksgiving to switch it up and this is the perfect addition to the list!
Chocolate Silk Pie
This is another classic cream pie option, and one of my favorites at that. We’re talking about a silky chocolate pudding with whipped cream folded in to make everything super light and fluffy, and then topped with more whipped cream. I like to make mine in a chocolate cookie crust, but it would be lovely in a classic blind baked pastry crust too- whatever you’d prefer here!
Kentucky Derby Pie
This pie is kind of like a cross between a pecan pie and a chocolate chip cookie and it’s SO good! Optionally, you can add in a dash of bourbon to make it more like the classic version. Either way, you’re about to end up with the perfect holiday pie, and something a little bit unique for your table.
Coffee Cream Pie
Alright, this is a bit of a hidden gem of my recipe collection. This is basically like a chocolate silk pie but made with a creamy coffee custard instead of chocolate. It’s one of my absolute favorite things I’ve ever made, and if you’re a coffee lover this one is really for you.
Black Bottom Banana Cream Pie
This is basically a super fluffy banana cream pie, but there’s a layer of dark chocolate right on top of the pie crust that makes for a little extra treat to this one. Another really delicious cream pie, I would say this is one you should make as close to the big day as possible!
Caramel Apple Pie
Alright, if you’ve ever actually been at my table, you know that I don’t really like apple pie. That said, I know a lot of folks do, and if you’re going to do it, do it with the apples covered with caramel sauce and a little extra caramel to top it off. Obviously, the whole thing is made with my super flakey pie crust too!
Blueberry Pie
Another classic fruit pie for your list, blueberry pie is pretty high on my own list. It’s honestly so delicious for being filled with just blueberries? I love how rich and smooth this pie turns out, and you can do any kind of pretty top crust that you prefer here. Plus, it’s really easy to make.
High-Altitude Pie Crust
Finally, the list wouldn’t be complete without the perfect pie crust recipe, and I’ve got that for you here. This recipe makes one large crust that can be used for deep dish pies or regular sized with some leftover. It’s easy to make by hand, super flakey, and honestly really delicious. I’ve been making it for years, no end in sight.
Have the best holiday ever, and I hope you enjoy some of these recipes this year- I know my family will be!
